Exams coming up but not a clue how to cover your syllabus? Don’t worry! Here’s how you can make an effective study routine to ace your exams!
Start by making a list of all the subjects you need to study and the resources you need. For each subject, note down how many chapters you have and highlight the important sections. Organise them in different files or folders so you can access them easily.
Break them into manageable chunks and set deadlines for each. Keep in mind that some chapters are harder than others. Or some subjects like mathematics might need more practice. So, divide the time accordingly so that you can attend to each subject sufficiently.
2. Make time
Once you put a deadline for each subject, do a rough estimate of how many hours you will need for each subject. Then, jot down your daily routine and see how best to fit the study hours to complete the subjects within the deadline.
For example, early morning can be a great time since everything is quiet, and you are fresh out of bed and full of energy. Also, remember to schedule regular breaks to stay fresh, motivated and away from distractions.
Don’t stay cooped up in the corner of your bedroom to do your studies. You will feel monotonous and in no time will dread going home because that would mean the dreaded bedroom with piles of study. To make things exciting, choose different locations for your study.
Studying in an unknown place keeps you more alert. It helps you to recall materials during exams as you create mental associations with what your study in a particular location. Earlier, we shared some great cafes for you to study. Maybe you can visit those places to excite you for your cramming sessions.
4. Schedule mobile testing sessions
Apart from the routine study hours, keep 15 to 30 minutes every day to quiz yourself. You don’t have to do it in a certain setting. For example, if you have a long commute travelling to your classes, use that time for this mobile testing session.
To further help, use an app that can autogenerate flash cards and pop quizzes so that you can test yourself more effectively without having to program quizzes manually. Earlier, we shared some cool apps to help you study beyond the classroom. Maybe you can refer to them to plan this out.
5. Final week prep
Finally, clear out your routine for the final week before the exam. Make sure to complete all your revisions and practices before this week. Keep this week to relax and revisit your notes without adding any new information.
If you have any confusion or queries, ask your teachers to clarify. Also, plan a get-together with your friends beyond the classroom to relax and unwind so that you are not too nervous about your exams.
