The 2006 Japanese anime based off the 2000s manga, “Nana” has seemingly caught the eyes of Gen Z. Telling the tale of two girls with the same name who coincidentally meet and end up being close friends, the slice of life and drama series resonated with many for more than just its storyline.
Dripping in high fashion inspired looks, “Nana” is known for mixing two distinct styles. We have the cute, Lolita-like fashion of Nana Komatsu who is fashion forward and all things pink contrasted with the rough edges of rock star Nana Osaki who is often dressed in black head to toe.
Whether you’re more of a Nana Komatsu or Nana Osaki, here are some must have items in your closet to throw together a simple inspired look!
A String of Pearls
Keep up a soft appearance with the feminine charm of a pearl necklace to bring out your inner Nana Komatsu.
Velvet Choker
Nothing says sexy like a simple black velvet choker. Notoriously sported on Nana Osaki, this simple addition can change your entire look.
Statement Belt
A wide buckle belt shows people who’s in charge, so wow them with your outfit! Rock a decorative belt similar to the iconic Vivienne Westwood logo that Nana Osaki adored. (PS: find affordable dupes on Shopee!)
Striped T-shirts
Simple yet incredibly versatile, striped T-shirts work in plenty of outfit combinations. Go for brighter, warmer tones to channel Nana Komatsu—and even pair it with a skater skirt and heels for a chic look.
Skinny Jeans
A must have in any student’s wardrobe, skinny jeans are a staple because of how they can be worked into literally any outfit. If you feel your inner rock star coming out, throw your favourite pair on with a white sleeveless top and a black leather jacket.
Bright Lipstick
Never underestimate the power of makeup to complete an outfit! Make sure all eyes are on you when you apply a fun, bright lip shade (such as pink or orange) to bring out the sweetness of Nana Komatsu or rock a darker shade (such as purple or cherry red) to counter the sourness of Nana Osaki.
