The aggregate score was 2-2, necessitating extra time in order to complete the game. A 1-1 tie in the first leg at the Cheras Football Stadium kept the series alive.
J. Partiban’s ninth-minute strike gave Kuala Lumpur the lead in normal time.
However, Ahmad Syamim Yahya’s 65th-minute goal gave Melaka hope.
In 30 minutes of extra time, neither team was able to score a goal that would have won the game.
5-3 victory for the City Boys in a penalty shootout thanks to Giancarlo Gallifuoco’s fifth goal and winning penalty.
