Perodua Myvi, also known as the “King of the Highway” in Malaysia, just got a major remodelling. Even after receiving a facelift upgrade recently, the Myvi 2022 is bringing some fresh new upgrades. Some of which are not seen in other cars below the price of RM60,000.
This might be music to your ears! Let’s look at the new tech in the new Perodua Myvi.
New Standard Transmission, No More Manual
The new Myvi still gets a similar 1.3-litre or 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine that pushes 94hp and 102hp respectively. Myvi’s 4-speed auto transmission has been replaced with a D-CVT transmission. The gear shifter looks the same as the pre-facelift model but the lower “3” and “2” gear labels are gone. According to the manual, S is meant for driving on a slope while B is for when you’re driving down a hill.
Perodua’s new Myvi car has a new transmission that allows the engine to shut off when the car comes to a complete stop to save fuel. Those who prefer to drive a stick will be disappointed. Like the new Ativa and Aruz, is going fully automatic across the range for the new Myvi 2022.
Level 2 autonomous driving in a Perodua Myvi 2022!
The new ASA 3.0 for the Myvi features similar safety technology to the Perodua Ativa, which has Level 2 semi-autonomous driving features. Aside from pre-collision braking, which now works at speeds of up to 120 km/h, ASA 3.0 also includes Lane Departure Warning, Lane Departure Prevention, and Lane Keep Control, which aids in steering the vehicle within its lane.
The addition of adaptive cruise control for the 1.5L AV is a significant improvement. Not only does the Myvi have cruise control for the first time, but it also has advanced sensors to keep a safe distance between you and the car in front of you. However, the adaptive cruise control only works between 30 and 125 kilometers per hour. So you’ll have to take over once the speed drops below 30 kilometers per hour.
Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), and Traction Control (TRC) are all standard across the board. Perodua only includes four airbags in the 1.3L G and 1.5 X, while the 1.5L H and 1.5L AV get a total of six.
The top-range models gets features like:
- Reverse camera
- Blind spot monitor
- Rear cross traffic alert (RCTA)the crucial ASA 3.0 features like pre-collision braking (PCB) and lane departure prevention (LDP). But it will cost RM2,000 add on for the 1.3L G model though.
Other Cool features
- Slightly larger infotainment screen for the Myvi 1.5L and AV models. It supports voice recognition control, Smart Link screen mirroring and an HDMI port.
- New Instrument Cluster with Colour Display
- Brand New Steering Wheel with “Power” Button! The PWR button activates a driving mode that suppose to provide more power for acceleration. But PWR button is not available for low-spec 1.3L G.
- Built-in Dashcam for video recording (a standard feature for highest 1.5L AV model)
- Auto high beam available across all variants except for the cheapest model.
- Daytime Running Lights included on higher 1.5L AV and H variant.
